Main areas for shopping in Barcelona
The main shopping areas in Barcelona can be classified like that:
The prestige stores with their designed and prestigious shop windows that are in Psasso de Gracia
and Diagonal streets, the antique stores located in Carrer de la Palla street that goes along the
relics of the Roman walls in the Gothic quarter, the De La Rivera quarter in which the alleyways
are full with stores of knickknack, ceramics and other hand made works, and around Plaza Catalonia
and in west Diagonal street where huge shopping centers raised in the last few years.
Prices and Costs
You can find everything in Barcelona but it is not a place for people who are looking for
bargains and the prices are not cheap. In the markets you can find cheap merchandises, but
the quality is accordingly.
End of the year sales are taking place twich a year:
The winter sales around 10th January, and summer sales around 5th July.
In those periods it is possible to shop profitably.
Stores Open Hours
Most of the stores in Barcelona are open from 09:30 till 13:30 (or from 10:00 till 14:00) and
then from 16:30 till 20:30 (or from 17:00 till 21:00). Big stores and the shopping centers are
open all day continuously. On Saturday most of the stores are open only afternoon. On Sunday
everything is close except from the very big stores.

El Corte Ingles
El Corte Ingles mall is "The" mall in Barcelona. It has 3 branches in Barcelona;
the main one is located at Catalonia plaza. In the lower floor there is a supermarket and
a store dedicated to Gourmet food. Except for the so many items being sold in the different departments,
there are also travel agency, office selling tickets for shows, cafeteria and change office in it.

Glories
This is one of most unmistakable trademarks of Barcelona. This is a huge shopping center with
more than 200 stores in it. The shopping center is built around something like an open plaza
in which there are lots of bars and restaurants and also big cinema.
This shopping center has several entrances from which you can enter to a roofed square with
high lampposts in it, benchs and white linen canopy serves as a roof under the stairs.
The shopping center has 3 floors, cinema, supermarket, all kinds of stores, open stands on
every floor and dozens of coffee shops and restaurants. All the Spanish and international
chains are represented here.
Except for cloths stores there are also toys stores, household appliances, cosmetics, furniture,
sports equipment, knickknack and optic.

How to go to Glories?
Metro: Line L1 (red), get off at Glories.
Look for the sign says: Sortida Centre Comercial. Go down the street, cross a pedestrian

La Maquinesta
This is a new and modern shopping center with 180 stores, business, restaurants and cinema in it.
The structure is partly roofed and partly open and there are wide public spaces in it, lighted
and decorated with statues and fountain too. Pleasant music can be heard in the background.

How to go to La Maquinesta?
Metro: Line L1 (red), get off at Torres I Bages.
Look for the sign says: Sortida Centre Comercial. Go to the first street named Carrer de Palomar,
turn left, cross the bridge over the railroad and from there keep walking to the entrance.

L`lla
This is a new and modern shopping center. All the fashion stores and the brands stores are
represented there. There are also stores for decorative items, candles, household appliances
and special food stores. Branchs like Marks and Spencer and fanc are attractive for many people.

Open daily from 10:00 to 21:30, the supermarkets are open from 09:30 and being closed at 21:30.
Closed on Sundays.

Mare Magnum
This place holds a cinema, restaurants, coffee shops, night clubs, discotheques and many stores.
A well designed bridge connects the complex with the La Ramblas boulevards, and in the summer
evenings lots of people are strolling from the La Ramblas boulevards to the port and this mall.

This shopping center is located just in the city center, in Catalonia plaza.
In the place there are lots of fashion stores, huge perfumes store, a FANC branch and many others.

Barcelona Markets
La Boqueria
This is a charming market, rich in colors and tourist's / local's tumult.
The market is actually some kund of branching going out from the La Rambla.
In the market plenty of pastries, meat, fruits and vegetables, fishes and see fruits are
all arranged on the stands in perfect order.
The stands that are closer to the Rambla are more expensive and as you go deeper inside
the prices are getting lower.

Brocanters del Port Vell
This antique market is taking place between Colon square and Maremagnum Bridge. The weekend
that always cause people go out for a stroll in the La Rambla boulevards brings many people
to this market located in the end of the boulevards.

are all spread in the market’s stands.
There are people who say that the prices in this market are cheaper from those in the antique
market located in the Gothic quarter.
